CLASSIC CORNER-TO-CORNER THROW

You can change up the colors of this beloved design for your own distinctive look. This throw began is at one corner, cleverly increasing and decreasing while you change colors for stripes.

What you will need:

RED HEART® Classic™: 4 skeins each 917 Cardinal A and 401 Nickel C and two skeins each 584 lavender B and 412 silver D

Susan Bates® Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9], Yarn needle

GAUGE: six blocks = 4” [ten cm]; six rows = 4” [10 cm] in stitch pattern. Precise gauge is not very important for this project.

RED HEART® Classic™, Art. E267 available in solid color 3.5 oz (100 g), 190 yd (174 m), prints & multicolor 3 oz (85 g), 146 yd (134 m) skeins.

Measurement of throw approximately 44” [112 cm] x 56” [142 cm] (including edging).

NOTES

Change color on an increase row as follows: Work last dc until 2 loops remain on hook, cut old color, yo with new color to complete dc, keep on with new color.

Change color on a decrease row as follows: try not to ch 6, turn, slip st in first 3 dc, insert hook in ch-3 space of same block, yo with new color, complete slip st with new color and keep on with new color.

Shape First Corner

With A, ch 6.

Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in fourth ch from hook and in next 2 ch; turn – 1 corner block made.

Row 2: Ch 6, dc in fourth ch from hook and in next 2 ch (beginning block made), (slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in ch-3 space of preceding row (block made); turn – 2 blocks.

Row 3: Ch 6, dc in fourth ch from hook and in next 2 ch, [(slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch-3 space of preceding row] 2 times; turn – 3 blocks.

Row 4: Ch 6, dc in fourth ch from hook and in next 2 ch, [(slip st, ch 3, 3 dc) all in next ch-3 space of preceding row] three times; turn –4 blocks.

Keep on in this manner, increasing 1 block on each row until there are 48 blocks across and working Stripe pattern as follows: more 2 rows A (for a sum of 6 rows), 2 rows B, 4 rows C, 3 rows A, 4 rows D, 2 rows C, 6 rows A, 3 rows B, 6 rows C, 2 rows D. Repeat these 38 rows all through for stripe pattern. Note: When repeating stripe sequence begin with 6 rows of A. Keep on in this manner increasing at starting of every row until side edge measures 44” (48 blocks). Try not to change color at end of last row.
